Ah, Heritage Month. A time to bring out the braai stand, don our traditional attire, and reflect on our national pride (Springboks for the win!). But it’s also an opportunity to think about our cultural awareness. Chances are, your coworkers and clients may see the world differently from you.
Learning a few phrases on Duolingo, showing genuine curiosity, and challenging your assumptions can go a long way. Not only will these steps make you better to work or do business with, but also create a space where people feel comfortable being themselves. As the COO of a diverse team, that’s my goal this month.
